Home away from Home
The Boston University dorms are considered the 10th largest of all 4 year colleges. It is mandatory for freshmen to live on campus, but in later years they can choose to move to off-campus housing. Due to the continuous construction of new housing, the Boston University dorms have a wide range of styles that includes brownstones and even high rise residential buildings. All dormitories have perpetual security.
The Boston University Life
Students are not simply given an academic experience, they are also encouraged to join one or more of the over 500 clubs at the university. They can be part of the abundance of student publications, join the community service centers or even the ROTC if they are interested.
The school is located in a very urban setting, and due to its location offers students a cultural delight. Students can visit the Museum of Fine arts or the Isabella Stewart Gardner museum or just be patrons of the several cafes and music halls found in the area. Also those interested in foreign or independent films can go to the Coolidge Corner theatre for a treat. For sports fans Fenway Park the home of the Boston Red Sox is found in the Fenway-Kenmore area.
The Boston University Terriers as the university athletic teams are called, participate in National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I. They are involved in several men’s and women’s sporting activities that include but are not limited to basketball, ice hockey, rowing and lacrosse. These sports are also club competition, allowing different clubs in the university to compete with each other. The most successful team on campus is the hockey team.
